Social Justice Poetry

Escalator | A Social Justice Poem by JD DeHart

Up and up
To the higher levels
Where they have resorted
To eating dust and roots
For living
Up and up
To those places we once
Adored and absorbed
Wanting to be like them
Now we see them huddled
Pitifully, just people
While the world is quiet
Far below us.
